Privacy policy.

Who we are

Dot Network (www.dotnetwork.co) is operated by Amorphous New Media ("Amorphous", "we", "us" or "our"), based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. Amorphous is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect

Information you give us when you use a form on this site, such as a market snapshot request, a brief or a contact enquiry:

  • Your name, work email address, company and, where you choose to give it, your role.
  • The answers you give about your market, such as industries, countries, objectives and buying roles.
  • Anything else you choose to tell us in a free-text field.
  • Whether you have opted in to receive occasional emails from us.

Information collected automatically when you visit:

  • An anonymous visitor identifier stored in a cookie, so we can count visits and understand which pages are useful.
  • Technical and usage data, such as the pages you view, the time of your visit, the referring website or campaign and your browser type.

We do not ask for special personal information, and this site is not intended for anyone under 18.

How we use it

  • To respond to your request, for example to prepare and send a market snapshot or to discuss a campaign.
  • To keep a record of our conversation with you so we can follow up properly.
  • To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
  • To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse.
  • To send you occasional emails about our thinking and services, only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.

We process your information because you have asked us to respond to an enquiry, because it is in our legitimate interests to run and improve our business and website, because you have given consent (for marketing emails) or because the law requires it.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of first-party cookies, which it needs to work and to count visits:

  • bb_vid: an anonymous visitor identifier, kept for up to one year.
  • bb_segment: the anonymous visitor segment used to tailor content, kept for up to one year.
  • bb_session: marks the current browsing session and expires when you close your browser.

These cookies do not contain your name or email address. If you later submit a form, your submission may be linked to your anonymous visitor history so we can understand how you found us.

With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It is off until you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies:

  • _ga: distinguishes visitors, kept for up to two years.
  • _ga_<ID>: keeps the state of your visit, kept for up to two years.

Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC, which processes this usage data on our behalf and may do so outside South Africa. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

This site does not use third-party advertising or remarketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site and respond to you, under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:

  • Website hosting and security (Cloudflare).
  • Our database and customer records (Supabase).
  • Email delivery, where we send you email.
  • Website analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies (Google Analytics).

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

Where it is stored

Our customer records are stored in the United Kingdom, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Where personal information leaves South Africa, we only use providers subject to laws, binding agreements or rules that give it a level of protection comparable to POPIA.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to respond to you and to manage any relationship that follows, and then for as long as the law or a legitimate business need requires. Usage data is kept for shorter periods unless it is needed for security or to meet a legal obligation. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted access to our records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security compromise affects your information, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, to give you a copy, to correct or delete it, or to stop processing it. You may withdraw consent to marketing at any time, and object to processing based on our legitimate interests. We may need to confirm your identity before we respond.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (www.inforegulator.org.za) or, if you are in the EEA or UK, to your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this site.
